Special for Brazed Carbide Turning Tool and Tungsten Carbide Tipped Saw Blade.
Green Silicon Carbide Wheel for the steel blade body/back;
Diamond Wheel for the carbide cutting edge.
Step 1: Grind the Steel Body/Tooth Back (GC wheel)
First, grind the steel shank or tooth back using the Green SiC wheel. Create a relief angle that is 2°~5° larger than the carbide tip (typically 25°~30° for the steel body versus 20° for the carbide). Lightly grind dry or with minimal water cooling, removing approximately 0.5~1.0mm of material.
Step 2: Rough Grinding the Carbide Cutting Edge (Diamond Wheel)
Switch to a resin-bonded diamond wheel. Apply light pressure and feed along the original rake/clearance angle. Limit the depth of cut to ≤0.02~0.05mm per pass. Always perform down-grinding (feed toward the tool root) to minimize chipping.
Remove the worn layer and minor chips. It is essential to use a coolant (water-soluble cutting fluid at 3~5 L/min) to prevent thermal cracks.
Dressing the Wheel
Regularly dress the diamond wheel using a diamond dressing tool (diamond pen). This exposes fresh abrasive grains and prevents the wheel from glazing or loading (clogging)
